Creating a popular blog that pays your bills isn't going to happen overnight. But you knew that, right?

But how does someone get to the point of creating a popular blog that not only makes money, sets the trends and be recognized by Time.com as a top website?

I invited Angel Laws, creator of the popular urban entertainment blog Concrete Loop to share how she grew her site to one on the most popular sites in her niche. Angel is also the author of the new book, Angel's Laws of Blogging: What You Need to Know if You Want to Have a Successful and Profitable Blog.

In this conversation, Angel & I chat about:

  • Why she created Concrete Loop in 2005
  • How long it took to monetize
  • How she got traffic to the site
  • The state of African-American bloggers/online content creators today
  • Her new book, Angel's Laws of Blogging
  • And tons more

I loved how Angel pointed out she’s been working at it for 13 years, and was by no means an “overnight success”. Seems like so many people hope to become successful in a matter of months without realizing how long it actually takes. Even though Concrete Loop took off pretty quickly, she’s been laying the foundation and learning the skills since she was much younger.

I 100% agree Steve & I hope that will resonate with viewers! It’s not an
overnight success deal by any means

Hey Torrey, I’m in the middle of this watching the interview, but I don’t want to forget to comment on something Angel mentioned. You can go to the website called way back machine to see what your site looked like in the past. Here’s the link for Concrete Loop @concreteloop http://web.archive.org/web/20060215230758/http://www.concreteloop.com/
Ok, I’m going to watch the rest of the video now. So far this interview is really cool.
